Factorfiction,

I'm with you on the fear and loathing of harvest gold.  It's not a color, it's a time warp.  It was free, that was my only justification.  I'm looking forward to shoving it off the balcony in the near future.

Oh! I just glanced at mary_x 's comment

and it's caused a   Lightning Bolt  short in my  brain....I HATE HARVEST GOLD! I am so glad we moved and I NEVER have to see HARVEST GOLD AGAIN! Or that puky pink color!!

OK. So it's out of my system now...

UH,
Glad to hear that everything is going well for you.  I thought they would when you got out of the situation that you were in.  Stressing out at work can be tolerable if you get away from it for the rest of the day.  If you stress out at work, then go home for more of the same, it just grinds you up.  I always thought I could ''tough it out,'' but that doesn't work.   JJ

Fixing up a new place is always an adventure.  I've got a mixture of garage sale pieces, the $2 rack I bought to hold the tv, the couch the neighbor gave me when she moved out rather than haul it downstairs.  My microwave is resting on a slighty dented and rusted 1970s-colored "harvest gold" metal cabinet that I got at a free furniture outlet.  But I'll eventually replace the pieces one by one with nicer stuff.  I really enjoy the feeling I get when upgrading to a nicer piece.

Mary
That does sound like a pretty spiffy little table indeed! I could actually use something like that for my kitchen. There isn't really much counter space in the room, so I've got a big oak panel resting on a couple of saw horses so I can have a microwave =P. That little table might be a bit more refined looking, eh? =P

And oh yes, Comcast is certainly more expensive that DSL, but I always always had problems with SBC. It was time to give a new company a chance at my business.

Factor
hehehehe. You just might remember when a 500mb hard drive was "more that you could ever need". 500 megabytes?! I'll NEVER be able to fill that all the way up! In a few years I'll look back on 600kbs and scoff the thought of having to download so slow =P

Hacker,

I forgot to mention that Ikea has a table that I  bought for a tiny kitchenette and now is my computer table.  It rotates on its base and folds out, so you could have it as a small table of app. 2' x 3' or rotate the table top and fold it out and double the width to 4' by 3'.  It's so handy.

I'm glad you endorsed the Comcast.  I just had to decide whether to keep it after the trial period ended or go back to DSL, even though the price went up considerably, but given that I would have had to buy a new modem ($80), and go through the hassle of switching services, we opted to keep the Comcast.  Can't wait to see the pix of your new place.
