Jimmy? There is a certain hellcat I would have to tackle over that one.
Besides, he hurts my head.  After the third sentence I realize what a moron I am.  He is very smart.  And very good looking.  So thank you for the compliment.  But I have to ask, you read his post - and you have maybe read mine, so the next question is...Huh?  He is clicked up perfect with Ms. Thang - 2 smart good lookin' cookies.  Why shovel him with some bad baggage?  There are some deviants on here you could stick me with (I won't name names), so maybe rethink mine as well.  Ariala and mystic?  lol....lol.

That's quite a weak retort in your highly successful click campaign...and, yet, demeaning does not demean this blogger. It is the title of your blog that is demeaning... to Americans.

Limey,

Thank you for your extensive review of the term Limey.  It makes perfect sense.  Your expertise on the term is quite noteworthy.

In coming here I passed through your more recent post, leaving a comment on the lack of a definition for Limey.  Since I commented there prior to reading your response here, my comment there is rendered somewhat irrelevant.  I must say, you certainly have done an excellent job of learning the ''tricks of Blogit'' in a very short order.  You seem to have outlived your reputation, dare I say it, of being Mr. Nasty.  Veddy good, I must say,    JJ

MYSTERIA - ...not to worry - Limey's on a click chase here - and he's getting it, even from me, who usually ignores him because I think his blog title is a click-getting hoax. Never, never again shall I respond to such innane deception!! Forgive me for doing so this time !!! I hate deception; but I love the English, except for Limey. My ancestors were from England, Scotland and Ireland and I'm glad of it. Limey desecrates his heritage with that Blog title; yet, he is far too entrenched and loving the clicks, that he seems unable to reform.

JJ Wilde
Here's the background to the name Limeyh

The first attempt to give scientific basis for the cause of scurvy was by a ship's surgeon in the British Royal Navy, James Lind, who at sea in May 1747 provided some crew members with lemon juice in addition to normal rations while others continued on normal rations alone. In the history of science this is considered to be the first example of a controlled experiment comparing results on two populations of a factor applied to one group only with all other factors the same. The results conclusively showed that lemons prevented the disease. Lind wrote up his work and published it in 1753.

Lind's work was slow to be noticed, partly because he gave conflicting evidence within the book and partly because of social inertia in some elements at the British admiralty who saw care for the well-being of ships' crew as a sign of weakness. It was 1795 before the British navy adopted lemon or lime juice as standard issue at sea. (This practice is probably what led to the nickname limey for British people, especially British sailors.)

The name "antiscorbutic" was used in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as general term for those foods known to prevent scurvy, even though there was no understanding of the reason for this. These foods include lemons, limes, and oranges; sauerkraut, salted cabbage, malt, and portable broth were employed with variable effect. James Cook relied on sauerkraut to prevent the disease on his voyages of exploration.

British humour
I get the impression many Americans say they understand and appreciate British humour whereas, in reality, they don't. And that's quite understandable, because some programmes are based on British culture and experience.

JJ Wilde,
Rumor and mythology have it that the roots of the word "Limey" come from the British navy's discovery that including citrus fruits, eg, limes in the diets of sailors prevented scurvy, the deficiency of vitamin C.  I'm crushed, don't I get paired off?

Limey and Ms N Dependence:

I think this was a very interesting concept, Blogit matchmaking.  I was flattered because I am usually not included in such lists.  I thought mine was a good match.

Ms N Dependence provides many things that make for an interesting blogger: good stories, pointed opinions and friendly words.

Also, fairly brief posts, which is something I have picked up after posting way-long posts for my first several months on the network, and it seems that most people are not interested in reading super-long posts.

Moreover, and this is probably because she is a teacher, her posts are nearly perfect in spelling, grammar and punctuation; I wish bloggers would take heed!

This may seem a superficial concern, but when your only means of communication is typed words, strength in spelling-grammar-punctuation is really necessary in order to be clear as to your meaning!  Limey, by the way, does also boast respectable grammar and punctuation.

Limey,

First, I wish to know the roots of the word ''Limey.''  It has long been a bit of a mystery to me.

Next, I would like to say that there is a sound British Humour in the post.  When I feel that there is nothing quite funny, yet I know that I am expected to laugh, that's British Humour.  A bit in the vein of Monty Python, et. al.

How should we resolve this problem?  Perhaps it could be taken up by Parlaiment?  Don't really know.  Throwing a bit of a bone for you to have a go with.  I shall attempt to return soon to see how you  have done at it.
