Me too

Yes MHW, great to talk to you, this is my first day on Blogit and I have met some really interesting individuals already.  Good to have a yarn to people from all over, especially when one lives in a country town in Australia!  Catch you again.

Cheers :)

CeeSee, my Aussie sista, obviously, you know what time it is. So do not pay

that brother of yours any attention. As we used to say in L.A. back in the old days, "Shine Him On" -- ignore him when he says something that is very narrow in scope or that does not make very much sense in the "real world."

Anyway, I am glad to have made your acquaintance and am looking foward to getting to know you better.

I sometimes even know where my towel is too
I was very sad to hear that Douglas Adams died this year.  Anyway, Mighty Holy
One, give me the word on the Christian thing please do.  I am all ears as they say and want to know if you are able to clear up the woman bashin' "get in the kitchen and do my bidding" thing.  I am pretty happy with my lot in life but don't like being pestered for being a girl.  In my semi educated opinion, I think Jesus was the nicest blokey to walk the earth.  And he was very inspirational and tough minded too.  Just think some of the churches get it all wrong.

Depends what you term conservative

My brother in law is what I term an  ultra conservative christian.  He hates homosexuals, blacks, asians, any other kind of religion including christians of other denominations and he says he has the bible right and everyone else has it wrong.

This is the guy who sat my husband down the day after we got married and tried to lecture him on how he should "bring me to heel" as a good wife because a man is the head of the household and the woman's role is to submit to him as the man submits to God.

This is the guy who when I asked him straight out if he was sexist he told me that he has to follow what the bible teaches and that is that women are subservient to men otherwise he would go to hell with all the other sinners.  He he even told me that women should not wear make up and referred me to the section in the old testament where Jezabel was eaten by wild dogs for being a loose woman but the only bit they didn't eat was her face as it was covered in make up.  I figure she should have worn foundation all over her body in this case but it kind of put me off Christianity a bit.  Is this man as I suspect, a complete tool who has the bible all head over tail???  Please give me your comments

MHW
WHOA... I thought I was the only card carrying member of the RNC. Yep, we're sometimes misunderstood alright, but we're darn good people. Now I don't have the experience you have with the "street smarts" and women, but then I am a woman. That said, I try to take people at their word, look for the best in them, and really enjoy life. I love my party, but not a far right winger (think less gov't is best), but don't preach about religion and such. Will believe to the day I die people have to be responsible for their own selves. I love our President, he's demonstrated his ability to command, and America is no longer taking shit from the rest of the world. His wife is a wonderful woman who is has grace even under pressure. You, my MHW... you are one of my hero's.. excellent post!

No women under 45, huh? Well, besides the fact that I'm happily
married, I guess that leaves me out.  *sigh*
