Michael -
Man oh man, you ask some good questions. Let me ask one too: what if love is the basis of everything? If that is the case, though your perception of what someone said or wrote may be a bit different from mine, it will still come from a position of love. And coming from a position of love means to be living in the moment, because that is the only place love is - it's not in the past, nor in the future, it's just in the present. So, coming from love in the present moment means that though you and I differ in interpretation, we will both end up at the same place.

here is where I posted
BEYOND THE EDIFICE-SEARCHING FOR NEW CHRISTIANITY
I AM ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT WE DON'T HAVE ALL OF THE NEW TESTAMENT!!! - ...
that's my blog and that's the subject. click on my name to find it.

I hope that answers some things.

Also -- you understand that the first writings were the epistles of Paul -- and it was through Paul's evangelism that the movement first got started -- then as an afterthought of sorts, people thought that maybe they'd better write about this Yeshua (Jesus) person -- so Mark came along and then the "Q" document, from which Matthew and Luke are take.
These all were written decades after. And Matthew was written about the time of the fall of Jerusalem.
These are compilings of stories. The original apostles probably didn't have literacy enough to write anything.

the stories didn't come until enough people were curious enough about the life of Yeshua. And then dozens of them came. We've lost 90% of gospels written at the time.

sheesh
you are asking some questions

you'll get the usual from Christians

my take on Christian argument is they give you what they perceive to be the answer without demonstrating how they arrived at the answer.

my favorite math class in high school was plane geometry because you determined the conclusion by a series of already known equations and statements.

like logic: a = b and b = c; therefore a = c.
and another type of logic: all lions are cats; but not all cats are lions.

there are statements that people make -- and one has to examine such.

as to the New Testament? -- I want to post on this -- but -- well I think maybe I will -- look for the post. Maybe you can get an answer to your questions.
