Mr. Branson already
own so much in America, including market share, I'm not sure anyone would notice... or care. That is as long as the team kept playing.

I'm glad to hear honour (sorry honor) prevails in some quarters of the US.
The way things are going, money could well turn out to be the root of all evil - over there and over here.
PS I met Branson once - a nice fellow with a sense of humour.

Well I suppose there's always the chance Mr Glazer will get his fingers burnt.
Meanwhile, I don't know whether you've noticed but soccer - unlike the American game - is played without body armour.
Tackles are mostly crunching affairs often resulting in leg and head injuries that put players out of action for weeks, months - or completely out of the game.
With their faces unobscured by helmets and helmet-bars it's easy to see their pain and - yes - sometimes tears.
Of course, some footballers are notorious for taking 'professional' falls to secure a free kick or penalty. However, most refs have a way of dealing with them.

thank you, mr. glazer
i think it's perfect an american bought europe's most esteemed soccer team. keep the infiltration and big business moving, I say. i also think it's perfect how britain's most beloved sport is the biggest pansy-ass, crybaby activity in all of competition. i mean, these guys fall down and start crying, seriously shedding tears, for at least five minutes. and this happens two or three times a game (i'm sorry, a "match." ha) Just shows you how weak you europeans are.

Hey, Limey, I think Branson is a howl and he can buy the New England
Patriots anytime he wishes (I can't stand them). Americans are born capitalists and taught capitalism in everything we do, from watching overly commercialized television to prancing around in Nike shoes and eating at Applebee's. Bow unto the mighty dollar, always (by the way, that's Wal-Mart's slogan: always). And I can understand your loathing of a power mogul gobbling up Manchester United like it was some damned corporate takeover, as if he had any interest in that great and noble team. The man has no class, no sense of history. It's all about the money.
Honor above all else, Limey. It is something we have in such sort supply here in America these days, sad to say.

Yes, Joan is a nice relaxed woman. But like all of us she has had her fair share of trials and tribulations. For example, her husband, an RAF helicopter pilot, caught Veil's disease and became paralysed. She nursed him for years before he died.

You had injuries? I know footballers can be rough tacklers at times, but not usually with women.

Limey, that would have been nice.
I don't think I won the approval of mine. It's not easy to live that way, but it always brings me the real kind of happiness vs the kind that melts away or isn't solid. I suppose it helped me learn more about that when I became a Buddhist, but it's been always who I tried to be. I bet the woman who sold you your house has had some wonderful things come her way. It just seems to work that way.

Soccer not a real sport! You haven't seen the Brits or the Aussies play. Dated both -always with injuries.

Soccer not a real sport? Let me remind you that unlike American football, soccer is the international game.
It's obvious your attitude stems from Americans not being uable to play the game successfully - both at home and on the world stage.
As the great Scottish football manager Bill Shankly once said: 'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you, it is much, much more imsportant than that.'

We are in agreement - it is sad.
And while we're on the subject, I remember my late father paying much
more than the asking price for a secondhand carpet - simply to give the elderly seller a little extra spending money.
I must strive to be more like him!

My friends have often called me stupid for not having a price...
But, I think having integrity has brought me better rewards in the end. It is a bitter pill to swallow when you actually needed money, but you did something - like with your house for example. I've often found though that something comes round to take care of me in the end when I follow my honor instead of something else. Reni's right though, our society is so much about instant gratification, self-satisfaction, looking out for number 1. Good thing it's not true for all and some of us find each other.

LImey--I agree. I'm just saying that our society (as a whole) is very
easily swayed by monetary gain--which is sad.

Not everyone
Some people can be bought, Renigade, but from experience not everyone.
I recall how, when buying a house, he seller turned down a much higher offer.- in my favour.
The reason? She explained it was against her principles to go back on an agreement. And she didn't. It meant I got the house; she 'lost' many thousands of pounds.
She has continued to retain my deepest respect, admiration and gratitude.
Such people don't grow on trees.

What's all the fuss?
soccer isn't even considered a real sport in the US. Futbol is something you enroll your 10 year old kid to get him or her out of the house Saturday mornings.
