Fleabusters did the trick last summer
but they are expensive. They put down a non toxic flea powder on the carpet and furniture that dehydrates the fleas. Only problem is that we got new carpet!!! (Their stuff is guaranteed to last a year if you don't wash the carpet.

good luck with the fleas! It took me months to get rid of the fleas in our
basement a few years ago when our cats had brought a few visitors home with them.
