I wrote a paper on the crusades from the Muslim perspective for a Western Civ. class in college.  The book I read was called Muhammed, I think.  It depicted the Muslims as merciless in their mission to sway the world to their way of thinking. I just saw this movie Saturday and thought it was fantastic.  Dunno, good luck in your quest.

Goodness it's been too long. I admit my email habits have been less than exemplary lately, I'll fx that =). As for the votes on ChellyBelly's blog: WHAAA?! Me? Most intelligent? Goodness I hope not =P. What would that say about Blogit? =P I'm honored that people think that about me, but I dunno. I think if people met me in person they might change their minds =P. I'll be over to read your dark poetry for sure! Anything dark is fun in my book. And I'll send Jimmy a comment about the Crusades information. Anything that can help, well, helps =P

You know what your comment made me think about? How many of us here know much about the Crusades? I know hardly anything, and that's probably more than a lot of people here. It's funny how we all say we should learn from the past so that history doesn't repeat itself, but not many people know anything about the blodiest campaign in medieval history. Crazy, isn't it? I'll be sure to keep you posted =)

Thanks for that comment! I haven't seen Stigmata, although I've been told by many people it's worth seeing. As for the bible, who really knows? Right? No one can prove anything about it, so it's all based on faith; whether you have faith that it is God's word or you have faith that it's all fiction. As for my journey, I think my mom has some really excellent resources for me, so I'm stoked about that. I'll let you know what I find =)

Maybe Jimmy has, he reads everything.
Leave him a comment in a post about it, because I'll forget (not to mention you both are up "normal people" hours).  I've been reading, not commenting though.  Just all over the place right now.  Making good things happen to get rid of some of those demons.  Are you, like, ever, gonna write me back?  And did you know mary_x, and maybe someone else, voted you hottest male blogger and most intelligent?  I voted Jimmy, but it's always hard for me to remember on the spot.  I would have tied you for intelligent, too.  It's in Chellybelly's blog.  Been thinkin' about ya.  Hope you are doing good at work and so on.  Oh, a big  with the utilities folks.  :)  I wrote some nice dark poetry, go see....dark but, well, go see.  I think it was a good choice for you in that hot male blogger spot, too.  I just happen to have my own in house person filling the position, sooooo, you know. :)

Can't really help you, but now you have caught my interest. I'll have to check back here to see if anyone has found something to read about this subject..

Hacker...have you ever
seen the movie " Stigmata"? It starred Patricia Arquette and while I know I am straying from  the idea of your post ( the occurence of true life! historical events ), it made me think. What's real and what's perceived...what's written down...through the ages and what's left of a tall tale. What is history?... It's been said that the bible's conception was culled from a series of dreams and illusions. A bunch of wise men sitting about drinking wine ...reminiscing about what they saw...what they thought...which translated to what they would one day, write down. For the ages to read about...you and I, hundreds of years later...basing our thoughts on their opinions...on their experiences.. Silly and confusing...and all consumingly fascinating. I applaud your search. I am always interested in the "the" most alternative views. Keep me posted on your journey.

I can't remember the name!
I just saw a book recently that looked intersting on this subject, but can't remember the name right now - I'll forward it on as soon as I can.

Otherwise, I feel the same way you do. It is hard to ask someone of religion about religion without them trying to prostletize(? convert) you. Fortunately it has become a very popular subject recently because of the D'avinci Code; so hopefully more and more information will be released and studied to get some real answers. I myself am on a similar crusade.
