for the compliment you left on my blog, S! I've heard bits and speculations about this issue, but as I am not familiar with Vatican II apart from that it was a radical, liberating document put together by the pope before John Paul II I can't really comment. Certainly Ratzinger seems v conservative, but I suppose it would depend on exactly how fundamentalistic he is and how he implements those views. My two cents.
