Glenn, when you speak, it doesn't help.
It's called impeachment. And, look how well it got Clinton out of office. Offbeat, I like you, girl, but George W is destroying this country and if you looked at the things, point by point, he's personally done since he's been in office, you'd see why I say that. It WAS a slim margin election last time, and the Court's decided the first time. He's cut program after program domestically, and spent billions on a war that didn't need to happen. The people he appoints to positions have actual criminal records. Niiiiice.

Limey ... here are my personal reasons for attacking a neighbor:
1. He was ugly, had big ears, and was approaching my house, on my lawn.
2. He was MINE, and he was having an intimate candlelight dinner and wine in his new apartment with "just a friend."
3. The stupid head doctor overdosed me and my stupid stepmother let me go out that night.
4. He was ugly, had kicked me out pregnant, and was approaching me in a big hurry while shouting angrily. He can keep the bleeping oil.

Temple,
Get your facts in order! The president can be removed from office! In effect "fire" him! Of course course you can't walk in and say your are fired! But there are means to get this fool out of office! The problem no one has the funding or courage to begin the process.

I concede you have a problem - and one for you alone to solve.
However, a change of leader would seem like a good first step. Why not start planning your campaign now?
PS I'm glad you enjoyed your spell in London. I'll try to post a few more examples of the differences between British and American English.

Okay, wait...
I do back that comment you just made to Ms. N. Absolutely. Unfortunately, our government is so, what, corrupt? Almost. I don't know what the solution is. I feel that Americans feel helpless often times and don't vote, don't volunteer. We must reach them if any change will happen.

You know, I try really hard to stay out of here.
But, you don't help us when you talk about firing the President. You can't FIRE a president. Inarticulate comments made whilst high don't help us....nor do those made by loonies who scream incoherant statements about everything at every opportunity. Pay attention, formulate an argument, know your adversary (Limey is quite obviously a British term) and then speak. Like a grown up. Damn. I don't back Limey's stand, you know this, I've made my point (I think while taking my own advice, I would hope anyway). But this is just silly. I will say, however, I do like your posts on the differences in our language...the slang. When I first arrived in London and my hostel mate spoke of "getting pissed" I thought, why on earth? Now, some of my vocabulary has been permanently changed from the time I went to school in the UK.

This post echos oh-so-many of the debates I have had with Republican former boyfriends. I suppose I should be careful - as this is the second time I have made such a statement to you - 'someone' might start thinking that you are really me - or that I am really you. Wouldn't that be hilarious!

Aaaaand, why don't you demonstrate, Limey??
You would have us individually strive to make a difference in our country, but you don't by setting a good example? Likewise if all of the world feels this way, then they should collectively voice their resistance to the Americans and American ways you oppose. I don't see either one, and both would be much more productive at guilting Americans into change. Harping on it does nada. Zip. Zilch. Actually in my case it ticks me off enough at the moment to say, "Good for us, dammit. And I'll start by keeping my tourist dollars at home."
No need for the rest of you to pacify me... it's out of my system now.

We Americans are not stupid...We know all that stuff you wrote about
What would you have us do about it though? Should we:
- Fire the president?
- Write angry letters to our congressmen?
- Get mad at Haliburton and Lochheed and stop buying their products?
I'm afraid there's little any of us can do about these problems in our country. I don't know what country you live in, but I'm certain that if you'll check, you'll find just as many greedy, unscrupulous politicians in your own back yard.

GlennB:
Coalition forces have been busy fighting the insurgents and Iraqis rebuilding their lives; it is reasonable that they did not find all the mass graves right away.
Thanks, Tigerprincess, for mentioning that important point.
We went to war for all those reasons. The world is not as simple as believed by either neocons or those on the opposite pole. A complex web of motives influence our decisions, and yes oil interests were one of those motives, an important one.
That oil influenced our decision did not make it wrong to overthrow a vicious dictator. If people only took action when they were sure their motives were pure, they wouldn't take much action.

Limey,
The Bushie's are not alone here! We have these Saudis and Kuwaitis who contribute nothing to society, feeding the greed of Americans! Stupid Americans I add! Boy are we suckers (Brits also). These Saudis would not let a drop of oil touch their designer Dress! Wouldn't know an oil rig if it fell on them? They just sit back and watch the price go up and sell us the paper!
You don't have to be smart, just not as dumb as Americans! And Brits!

Limy, these are the spoils of war ...
pillaging and plundering all in the name of freedom, democracy, religion and electoral campaign contributions. Combine that with the torture and abuse at Abu Ghrave, and this is what we refer to in the states as a win-win with no downside.
Ok, so not everything went according to plan. What should we do with those pesky "dead-enders?" Kill one, and 10 spring forwad to take their place. Hmmm. Maybe we should use one of our latest technological weapons to obliterate all the people, leave the infrastructure, and just start over. Then we can proceed to Iran, then Syria, then Egypt, then ...
