Unidentified Hacker,
I was afraid that would happen.  Simple solutions for simple minds, I've heard said.  The hard sell never works, it's like nagging someone to quit smoking, etc., it always backfires.  My boyrfiend quotes the Jewish maxim: "Don't tell me what you believe, let me follow you for a week, and I'll tell you what you believe."   Keep an open mind.  That comment about the medication is so simple-minded and it has nothing to do with God, it's his unfortunate interpretation.

LOL
Heh.  I love those God freaks that think every ailment or illness (in any form) can be cured simply by faith in God.  I'm with you, don't stop taking the meds.  Ignorant assholes.

Good Post.
I found your post very well said, and informative as well.

I have copied my comment to you that I made in response to your question to me about what it is that I believe. I had posted it to the comment page on my blog:

Frist I would like to thank you...
Thank you for checking out my blog, and secondly thanks for slapping me around a bit; I needed that. ;)

My philosophy about the Source(God, Ala, Snidley or whatever anyone wants to call it) is very complicated and always evolving, but if I were to try to put it in a nutschell, it would go something like this:

The Sorce is the life force that is nither good nor bad, male nor female; it is all things. It is the energy that molds and holds physical reality together. Every concious living thing(and that includes us humans)has the power to use it and mold it to create their exisitance, for good or bad; we choose.

It looks like the brightest white light you could never imagine, or the darkest most hopeless pit. It feels liike love, or hate whichever you choose. That is why it is so necessary for us all to have our free will to make those choices; that's how we learn to make good ones.

We are like radios with only two stations to choose from; positive or negative, and life is constantly making us choose which station we will get our moods, ideas and answers to questions from.

If you keep your mind tuned to the positive, you will receive positive; of course the same is true of the negative.

That is why it is so important to keep turning our dial back to the positive, and it is not easy. Sometimes the world can test you beyond your limits, but you must always keep re-adjusting your reception, unless you choose the negitive, which I certainly do not advise.

O.K....I guess that was a bit more than a nutshell.

THanks again for the visit.

Factor
You know, that's a really really good idea. I'll tell him the story and try to explain why it pissed me off so much. Thanks for the idea =)

I suggest you write him a letter.

Explain what upset you and why. Maybe he will intelligently refrain from suggesting the same "solution" to others who might be harmed as your friend was.  It is about all you can do with people who are single minded.
