tigerprincess -- would you still believe in such things if the prayer
before the meeting was to Allah and the ten commandments were the Hindu Ten Commandments, to use but 2 examples?

I don't believe in a state sponsered religion per say. However I do believe in a government where praying to God before meetings is not illegal, and if a judge wants to hang a Ten Commandments sign in his courtroom it's okay.

pappy -- In all honesty I don't think it likely
but the surprising thing is that there are still very strong proponents of it even today.

Do you really think it likely, gomedome?
Isn't the union of church and state pretty much old history? I mean the radical churchers want more political clout, but doesn't everybody?

Thanx sannhet
I often wonder how the proponents of a state sponsored religion would feel if the state's religion of choice turned out to be a religion other than their own?
