Hollee, My parents celebrated their 50th in 1995, and would have celebrated their 60th in 2005, but my Dad passed away in 2002, and my mother in 2004 -- So whether it be 25, 50 or sixty, our lives should be a celebration each day that we are alive.

I could reach it Hollee..
..if I live to 95! I'm hoping I make it to 25...my first marriage ended after 21 years...didn't quite make that one! I used to think about this 50 year anniversary while I was married the first time..I was actually hoping that I wouldn't make it to 25 with the first one! ;) 50 is wonderful...as long as the couple is still in love and I question that..not your parents..just other people at this stage.

First of all I'm impressed with your background. You must feel good about your accomplishments. Marriage - even though I've been married many moons, I believe it is an antiquated institution. Hopefully future generations will find a more creative way to have intimacy, love and friendship. We all need long term relatitonships whatever category they fall into. Peggy

There is no secret!
After seeing my parents, my in-laws and two set of grandparents reach 50 or more and all being married only once...I am convinced there is no secret. It is just that 2 people stayed with it no matter what. The vows sort of say it all. For better for worse, in sickness and health, for richer for poorer...that about covers it all. O f course all of these folks also never had to endure any physcial abuse. I think even the most healthy of us probably heap on some emotional abuse even without intending too. I'm going on 28 years, and my two brothers will hit 15 years and 26 years! That's a lot of years!
