Maybe you've read some of my posts about my friend Paul? He was born in Bosnia...I think he speaks Croatian and Serbian...I love the tougher languages!! (Well, okay...Except for German, which I don't speak very well.)
I like the tough ones because it gives my brain a work out...Those to me are equally important as the physical ones...I'm looking forward to my Ukrainian studies...Never actually considered taking Albanian, but who knows? I'll try anything once!!
I once knew a lady from Slovakia...Sadly, I never got the chance to ask her to teach me to speak it.

Croatian and Sebian fall into the "Russian" or Slovak category
They might not be that hard (though I don't speak either). Ukranian is a whole lot tougher.
And if you ever try Albanian, all I can do is wish you the best of luck! Because that language is out there!

Thank you for the lesson. At the moment, my Russian isn't very good at all, either...But it's still better than my Polish...Lol...I plan to teach myself Ukrainian next, and Croatian and Serbian thereafter.
Go figure!!

Do widzenia means like goodbye or so long.
In actual translation it means something like "to the next time we meet". It's the standard goodbye they (we) use!
By the way, if you understand Russian, you could pretty much hold your own in Polish. I remember years ago watching movies with Russian subtitles (or a Rocky IV for example) and being able to decifer the language pretty well.
The Russian alphabet is difficult, but some key words I can understand.

You'll probably think me an idiot...but what does that mean? I only speak a few words of Polish...Most of which I learned from reading a book...lol!!
Don't hate me for this...My Russian is better than my Polish...I'm teaching myself here at home.

Dzjenkuyah, David...(Don't know if you know or understand any Polish, but that means thank you)...
My aunt's husband is of Polish decent. I almost got to travel to Poland...To a little town called Brwinow, about two hours away from Krakow and about four hours away from Warsaw. Sadly, I never made it. I'd still love to go.
I'm so glad you're enjoying my character sketches so far. Lena's character is modeled after my friend Kamilla.
It saddens me beyond words to know the history of the hatred between Poland and Russia, but I can certainly understand it to a point. I know these wounds would be extremely difficult to heal, but I pray that someday peace can be made between them.

That is very good
I have relatives (on my mother's side) who were in Poland during WWII. Some fought in the war, others booked for the US. And they can attest that the fear and hatred of the Russians (Stalin) was far more than the Germans.
