There is nothing wrong with an opinion
so long as it is stated as an opinion.

I guess, that's a luxury of living in Australia as well, while not 100% tolerant of everybody (most of us are human!) we are pretty good at letting people have opinions.

littlemspickles, not all read it the way you do
in the Philippines, there are fundamentalists using Dan Brown's novels to make fun of Catholics. And they do it in their radio and TV networks!

I view Dan Brown's books as fictional pieces of writing with some element
of truth. I enjoyed the story as a story and didn't really look too closely at the conspiracy that surrounds it if, indeed it is truth rather than fiction.

I agree David1Spirit
that Dan Brown's books are fictional. The only thing that bothers me is when he advertises that his researches are accurate and yet when you go to check his "research data" are also bogus. Would Dan Brown, do to the Moslem religion what he did to the Catholic religion in a novel?

I liked the Da Vinci Code

I thought it was a very interesting story, and fictional of course. But also based on some truths.

But what I love more is the fact that people are starting to ask questions because of it. It's not neccessarily an indictment of the Church to ask these questions either. It should always be that way. God didn't give us the ability to process thought only to have us eschew that process in the name of said God. The true omnipotent, all-knowing and all loving God would more than likely welcome it.

My opinion is that if the Catholic Church is as viable, honest and strong as many say it is, then for sure it can weather a few inquiries and questions. If not, well then don't blame 1 man and 1 or 2 books for it. Because sooner or later any and all untruths would eventually be exposed. If the Church has nothing to hide, then it will only make it that much stronger. Time will tell!
