pappy,
I have read that about the Mayan calendar.  Spooky stuff.  The kicker being that two dissimilar cultures unbeknownst to one another predict the end of time to occur at nearly the same time.  Hand of god or one helluva coincidence?  How about the interference of star-spanning aliens that landed on those airfields in the Andes?  Maybe they're coming back, harbingers of the second coming.

saul,
Just to add a little fuel to the fire, did you know the cycle of the Mayan calendar ends on either Dec 21 or 23, 2012? My guess is that the age of Aquarius is dawning.

Unfortunately, Frankenkitty,
the only way I see the world coming to an end is by our own inept hands, due to a biological pandemic or ecological disaster.  Of course, there is still the nuclear option, although it has been limited a bit in the past couple decades, but the number of idiot gladiators is growing.  Oh, and then there's the asteroid or meteor or comet ending.  But I have numerous suspicions that the world will not end with the return of a messiah figure, no matter how many prophecies are foretold and come to pass.

I wouldn't be surprised if the end of the world came
in the not to distant future.  It's not like I can stop it from happening, because people make their own decisions. Hopefully, I will not have to pay for everybody else's bad decisions, just my own. Anyway, interesting blog
