DarrkeThoughts -- I've never thought that Jesus was a fake
I've always felt that he did in fact exist and was an unusually perceptive and altruistic individual. I do believe however that his legend has had a lot of superfluous things added to it over time by others. When one looks at the water to wine story for example, it does not make a lot of sense. Unless of course Jesus was capable of the type of subtle manipulation of the human mind that so many others have proven is possible. Now it makes perfect sense. A man with those capabilities would be elevated above all others in a time when the populace believed in such things as magic. The water to wine story now is reduced to the erroneous observations of the primitive people around him. Imagine if David Copperfield lived in that time period

You know, the trick itself wouldn't bother me...but the outcry afterwards would cause me doubts and make the whole connection that maybe Jesus was a fake...
