- Go to Different people see Ratzinger's election as Pope differently
So what's exactly your point?
Are you upset that the new pope is "conservative" or that you don't believe that he really is conservative or you don't know what to think. Some people think that he isn't all that he purports himself to be (Ratzinger)and many people think he is very conservative and exactly what he looks to be. All we can do is hope and pray that he is for sure the one The Holy Spirit chose and that it wasn't politiking that won him the election. If he truly is conservative, it is because the church that Christ founded should remain exactly what He founded. He doesn't change, become modernized. He remains the same and his rules and guidelines for us remain the same. The Ten Commandments remain the same. When, and if, His rules or commandments change, most likely he'll let us know in no uncertain words.

Straightforward - Not being catholic, I am more of an observer than a participator in opinion giving in this interesting bit of what is going on in our world.

yes the catholic church
is ultra-conservative...hey that is the nature of Catholicism. The ones of us who don`t like it, don`t have to go to Church..the funny thing is that so many catholics are turning to Evangelism which is in fact, even more conservative but at least allows for women to perform mass. Ill just meditate. Love, Vib

Some newspapers have pointed out discrepancies in his past handlings of important issues. A bit Orthodox, without giving alternative solutions.
