My first reaction to extreme stress...

has always been tears. Then I get mad because someone made me cry and embarrassed me then I yell and scream. If I avoid tears I don't lose it. But I can see how it diminishes everyone involved when you yell and scream. I try to avoid that too.

I really hate to cry,
but I can see the wisdom in what you say.  With me, it more often comes out in anger and screaming, which leaves all of us diminished.  Not really sure how to substitute crying for anger and yelling, but I'll give it a try.
