Thanks for stopping by. The Post Office I use gives free ice cream on April 15. Makes the mailing taste a little better.

Working on my state and fed taxes as I type, Cypress.

And I agree.  We should have some say over where our tax money is allocated.  I also agree that a lot, if not most, of our tax money should go toward education.  And I know why they don't let us.  Can't have every tax dollar going into one coffer, or a lot of tax money going toward frivolous things (no, that is a job for legislators).  And I agree that our tax money shouldn't be spent on studying migratory birds or the average length of a cat's whisker (let some foundation or non-profit organization sponsor those types of things).  I propose a compromise:  allow the taxpayers to allocate 25-50% of their tax dollars.  Hell, even offer up the departments and organizations where the money would go (no politicking or solicitation of funds, please, because that would take away from tax monies already given to said department or state organization), as well as a general fund to be allocated as the legislators see fit (to be added to the other 50-75% they already get by default.

And to hell with political organizations.  Those bastards shouldn't be allowed to solicit money on your tax forms.  They're the ones who get us into and keep us in financial straits, so screw them.   Let the corporations support them, as they nearly do already.

Know what, I'm going to post this (and add to it a little).  I feel like venting a bit.
