Yes, the Russians do have a different alphabet entirely!!! This makes it extremely difficult to read and pronounce. There are hard and soft sounds for nearly every letter of their alphabet, unlike our alphabet. It's hard to explain, but if you're interested I'd be happy to sometime.
CRIME AND PUNISHMENT...HMMM..I have heard of it, but I've not read it yet. I'm still trying to get hold of DOCTOR ZHIVAGO. Have you seen the film? It's a real tear-jerker!!

Russian? They have a whole different alphabet too don't they?
I took some Russian history and what not in college. i' am probably the only person I know who has really read "Crime and Punishment" all the way through. It was in English though. Good luck with your studies though.
