We may be forced to separate church and state in life, but when it comes to death, we all need dying grace, and the state can not provide that!

I think you are right.
I think that a lot of people and a LOT of politicians and world leaders had a lot of respect for Pope John Paul, II. He did an awfully lot to help the world toward peace. He stood up for the poor. He never backed down and yet he was always loving and caring. He touched a lot of hearts, not just those of Catholics.
