Ego
Sin is a tool of ego to keep us from knowing our true self. That sin and guil\t is meant to keep us powerless and from making a choice. To choose to be happy rather to let the power of negativity overcome us because we will not choose. Sin is something we are taught like you said a memory. It is a projection of our ego mind to keep us from opening to spirit. It is a way of disconnection. It is a story we tell ourselves to make us disconnect from spirit.
What is the sin. The sin is we have abuse ourselve and beleive we are to be judge . To allow ourselves to be judge by our own ego. That is the true sin. To listen to our ego and not trust our spirit of love and connection. To be limit by the external and realize the potential is in our trust of spirit. The thoughts of our ego and linear mind makes us judge. We forget to feel and be open. The thoughts tell us to judge and mistrust what we see and feel.
