well,the stock market
does see to be going nowhere at present
a new influx of investment, such as would come from Bush's plan, would bring in a pretty nice cash flow to the corporations and those already invested in them -- it would make those folks in particular rich.

the rest of us (not me)?

market reaches a plateau, then slides down a bit.

what we thought was a cash cow becomes a cow patty.

Roulette wheel, the odds aren't quite THAT bad.  But you are right, there is no guarantee.  And to play the market successfully takes some time and learning that the average Joe might not have - or have time and $$ to get.  That is my concern with Bush's plan - so what happens when 90% of the people invest in the wrong things and lose everything?  Or is it just that Bush wants more $$$ flowing into corporations?  Let's force people to invest in stocks...yeah, then the corporations will have more cash flow.  Who cares if people don't invest wisely and lose everything?  Or better yet, the government can "advise" people and send even more $$$ to their favorite corps!

This was a good post! Many people have no idea of what went on before
Social Security. Most people worked till they died unless they invested some somewhere along the line in their lives. I consider Social Security just a part of the deal. I will take it when the time comes and use it to supplment my real retirement income that I save and my company contributes to also.
