i've heard it said that we must go through hell to get to heaven. i now realize that we don't have to go there, but just be aware of how we put ourselves there.

Our hell
It is really true we create hell without knowing it. We think happyness is something that just happens. It is a choice that must be made and to shift towards those things that will help create it. One of the tricks is the ego mind wants us to focus on the pain. As long as we do that we do not seek a way out. We resist and fight. We judge ourselves and everything. We cannot see we are drowning ourselves. When we are able to focus on creating and not on the problem then maybe we can see a way out. Love is the way out. Fear only lets us drown. The linear mind is condition to fear. Only when we connect with our resources rather than what takes it away will we be open to see something else.

I agree, whether or not a literal hell exists for departed souls, I know first hand the hell that we can put ourselves in by our actions! As I was reading the one paragraph about "a hell of lust, a hell of...etc" I just had this flash of Dante and his levels of hell...

I agree with your post...
I am conscious of how much we put ourselves in jail so easily. I am working a lot on myself, trying to analyze my mistakes and i have realized how much i was putting myself in stress or painful situation without any exterior help lol i am on my way to change all this, because it is unhealthy.
