I can't remember the dog in the book, MerryAnne, but the dog in the film was a Saint Bernard.....er...so I'm told.

I was fascinated, gypsy. Another thing I was told was that the cats jump up and rub against her belly as they purr loudly. Just watch; the animals will protect baby against Mother and Father.
