Ariala -- that is a nice sentiment and as usual it is appreciated
And I too must offer an apology for such a belated reply to such a nice statement.

mightyholywarrior -- no doubt this site has a different feel to it these
days but you know as well as anyone that it is an ever changing dynamic.

approach the Bible with the right attitude
and you will build a good foundation
people have got to accept that myth is myth
and that solid principles are solid principles
and that all the ideas we have about the Bible comes from medieval thought -- and not original concepts.
through the medieval filter, a lot of what is found is presented differently than originally intended.
the earliest stories, in Genesis, have a similarity to indigenous Americans' stories -- and yet they are propounded as fact. boy is there a problem there.

avant-garde - and thankfully so, I think the one thing that I am the most
taken aback by is running into people in the year 2005 that still want to insist that Satan is a real being. Where the personification of evil may be a good concept for teaching right and wrong there is something amiss when the lines between concept and reality are blurred. Something is very wrong with the lesson itself when the students of the lesson cannot distinguish reality from fiction.

you've drawn some good parallels, gome
but, there are a lot of us who don't believe in a devil.

There are many wonderful stories in the bible.
They're not all 'horrible'.
Why is it sooooo important to you to prove that it's wrong and/or NOT the Word of God? Can't you just leave everyone to believe as they wish? That's what a free, democratic society is all about. Each of us is free to pursue life, liberty and happiness by whatever means we choose (within in the bounds of our laws).
