As someone who has seen their career be outsourced, and the general malaise and depression on the rise, all I can say is that I see a storm approaching. Until the government decide that the welfare of the citizenry is more important than the money that is pouring into their pockets from the lobbiests, we're on a road of destruction for the middle class, and becoming a nation of slaves. We're losing our dignity, our jobs, our standard of living -- it happened before with Reagonomics, and we never really recovered either, save for the megarich. And I suspect that when enough of us are living on the brink of starvation and watching our children suffer, then maybe we'll get up off our collective arses and do something. Is the problem illegal immigration -- no, not exactly, but with the continual outsourcing and loss of manufacturing jobs overseas, there isn't going to be much of anything left for anyone soon.

I can't help thinking a lot has to do with the profit motives central to capitalism. We have to take the good with the bad. Canada has a problem as well but not to the same numbers of course.Great post and a Happy 24 hoss

Kingmi...
it would help if employers were diligent on verifying legal status as well. I've worked for some companies that the persons visa expired a year ago and they're still working for the company!
