you're right, Christianity doesn't own those ideas

christianity doesn't have a corner on those things
it is common a all beliefs and even unbelief.
but it's mythology and exclusivism and wanting to dominate U.S. politics and general affairs that bothers me among many other things.
it's refusing to see certain validities -- and that refusal has made tons of unbelievers.
remember what Yeshua said about millstones?

bullshit like....
--accountability for one's actions.
--guilt(knowledge and shame for one's wrong actions)
--respect for God as the author of life
...to name but a few. We can call it the Church of Perpetual Irresponsibility.

A good post my friend. I have believed for a very long time that God communicates with each individul-all the time. It is up to us to hear Him/Her.
Now we can choose to listen for Him/Her in the silence of our minds, in the quiet times, or we can choose to believe only a tiny part of the story of God.
There are parts of God in the Bible, and parts in every other holy book ever written under any other name.
Kahlil Gibran pointed me in the right direction at about age forty two after many years of Catholicism.
"I love you my brother, whoever you are, whether you worship in your church, kneel in your temple or pray in your mosque. You and I are all children of one faith, for the divers paths of religion are fingers of the loving hand of one Supreme Being, a Hand extended to all, eager to receive all."

I agree and think it is happening everywhere. I've been attending a liberal catholic church lately that holds some of the same beliefs as the Roman Catholic Church, but does not see the Pope as infallable, nor the bible as innerant. It also sees validity in the inner quest and the oneness of God/ the Universe/ Ultimate reality - whatever you want to call it.. Last Sunday's sermon (more of a few remarks about a particular topic) was on humility and Bishop Burke spoke at length on Buddha and the humility inherit in buddhism.
