- Go to Certainty VS. Uncertainty, GoldenMean VS. Ayn Rand

With this post I was just presenting some facts of Rand's career. Glad you appreciated it. With the next post, I will get into some specific postulates of her philosophy. A few bloggers have advised me to do this, to break up a long article into parts, like chapters of a book. I will try it and see what happens.
Yes, the lack of recognition of Ayn Rand in philosophy's elitist academic society makes me furious too.

Golden Mean,
you made a big part of my day by posting this. I was anticipating it and was not disappointed.
I agree with you about philosophy lists' exclusion of Rand -- a very conspicuous absence considering her literary success and the fact that she called herself a philosopher and explained her philosophy in detail to wide audiences to great acclaim and criticism. Seems to me these factors definitely warrant a mention among great 20th century philosophers.
While I disagree with parts of her philosophy, I am furious with any philosophical experts who publish lists of great 20th century philosophers without including Rand. It can only be explained by deliberate scorn for her on their part -- perhaps they think of her as a faux-philosopher with wacky ideas. Even if that is their opinion, there is no excuse for them not including her. If intellectual snobbery is what it is, then that makes me just plain furious.
Very glad there is a Blogit community of Rand knowledgeables, from Ariala to you to me, and perhaps some others whom I have not read yet. And a very good essay. Look forward to the next segment.
