Thanks for reading, JB and Thomas.
Yes, the Black Dahlia murder was Elizabeth Short, found murdered and horribly mutilated on the beach.  If you search under her name or under Black Dahlia, there are a lot of websites.  I believe the book was a true crime type of story, not a novel.   Haven't read it, so I'm not sure.

I was hoping to read something on the Black Dahlia-she was murdered right? Now, I know who wrote a book though with that name. Is it a book telling about the Black Dahlia?

I liked her a lot, too, Whacky.
At first I thought I wouldn't, but she always made me laugh.  She was supposed to be very warm and nice as a person, too, which just adds a little extra to a performer.  Thanks for reading.

Oh I can identify with your Allan Sillitoe. I spent many a happy hour-read -HAPPY HOUR-in the pubs of Nott's. as we called it back then in the fifties.

Oh it was a grand time when Caucks and American got into a donnybrookes with the Brits.

They didn't care we weren't in American uniforms it was always: "You bloody Yanks with your bloody loud mouth excuse for the Queens English are all the same.

Comin' over ere flashin' yur lolly and takin our luv's." LOL

Thanx for the memory luv
