WriterofLight,

You do not get it, but you keep writing unintelligent garble! What is the point of adding another bureaucratic layer to the Social Security System? Social Security is a "Trust" fund as presently Legislated! It is not a wealth accumulation retirement account! Who is going to manage these so called "Private" Accounts? Have you tried to look at your IRA lately? If the Social Security System cannot pay retirement income in the out years? Do you really believe there will be anything to make up the shortfall in your IRA, Pension, or anything else WallStreeters have their hands in?

Thanks for reading! glenn, the only attack I saw going on in that post was the completely irrational attack in the letter I quoted. All I was doing was reacting in utter amazement at this person's lack of understanding. "swiss cheese on steroids . . . " Great mental image! Not very applicable, unless to unreformed social security, but still nicely put. Matt and scoop, that's wxactly what needs to be done. Sadly, neither party wants the other to have any possible credit for fixing it, so the Democrats scream and yell and obstruct so that the President's plan goes nowhere. And, if they do succeed in stopping his plan, guess who they'll blame when crisis hits in earnest?

WriterofLight (DoubleSpeak),
You obviously understand the frustration that the American People have with the "forked tongued" supporters of anything that comes from George Bush's mouth. Because you always start your commentary in attack mode! Everytime there is forum for discourse someone on the payroll of Bush Inc. comes in with stupid opinion. Do you really think we are that blind to you and the spin? As proposed this thing will make the present "Social Security Retirement Program" look like swiss cheese on steroids! With every rat on wallstreet vying for his chunk!

For anyone younger like me
lets just come up with a plan. Democrats...don't be just an opposition come up with your own idea and compromise...and get a good reform passed. There is no reason not to fix now, if we can. Putting things off has been the cornerstone of both parties. Lets just do it.

There is no argument that SS needs an overhaul but it has
to be thought out with both parties being reasonable and working out a long range plan.
