Death

At http://www.novelguide.com/Streetcar/biography.html, it says he choked to death on the cap of a medicine bottle in a New York hotel.

At http://www.brainyencyclopedia.com/encyclopedia/t/te/tennessee_williams.html, it says, "

Tennessee Williams died after he choked on a bottle cap. However, some (among them is Dakin Williams, his brother) believe he was murdered. Alternately, the police report from his death seems to indicate that drugs were involved, as it states that pills were found under his body."

Is it true Tennesse Williams choked on
a bottle cap...or is that one of those urban legends like Mama Cass choking on a ham sandwich?

As always you've given me something to think about and perhaps look up. Thanks....

Witch...
..not sure why she was so tortured either. Didn't depict any physical abuse in the movie..he wasn't very kind to her...she was a perfectionist i guess...moody sort. I"m not much into poetry either!

Ahh, P.S.
My favorite here is Renoir.  Love the work, find the man interesting.  Is Blogit a great melting pot, or what?

Haven't seen the movie.

Looks like it is Sylvia from 2003.  I'm not much into poetry and while I remember when she committed suicide, I never understood why she was so tortured.  Some of the material I read for this post indicated that Hughes physically abused her, at least once, so there's an issue for sure.

I have read about Sister Wendy but saw her on TV only once.  Couldn't believe it was real and not Monty Python or somebody.  I'll have to try to catch the SNL sketch.

Thanks for reading and commenting, Ginnie, Roofy, and Gypsy.  Glad you liked these people better than I.

Love Sylvia Plath...
...did you see the movie where Gwynth Paltrow plays Plath?

Sister Wendy!!!  We used to laugh whenever we saw her come on PBS.  I know, I know, I shouldn't laugh, but despite how nice and intelligent she is, she's pretty goofy looking.  In fact, I came home one day and my parents had taped a picture of her from the TV guide to my bedroom door and I still have the picture stashed somewhere!  :-)

Also, on a side note, SNL did a hysterical sketch where Nathan Lane played Sister Wendy.  The funniest quote was "her" reaction to a painting:  "You could throw dog crap at a bus and call it art."
