Mattl,
I would never suggest that you are not committted to your interpretation of what you are witnessing! But please do not assume that I am not commited to my interpretation of what I am witnessing. Do "not" confuse me with someone who does not give a damn! What is happening in Iraq is tragic because of it's inhumanity. Americans should not be dying in Iraq, killing Iraqis. It is not war! It is criminal!

You are unbelievable! You no nothing about me, I tried my hardest to get over to Iraq with the Defense Department as a civilian so I could help the Iraqis…you pompous ass!!! I was a week away from getting on a plane when we were called off because of the growing threat to American civilians. I am currently applying for another job to go help the Afghans. I shed tears when I saw the Iraqis going to vote, I am so happy they have hope after all these years under a brutal dictator. It is obvious that you know nothing of humanity and care only about yourself and your own loathing. Your comment to me does nothing but show your true self and to all the others here on blog it and you’ll probably delete it. You are clearly articulate and intelligent but you are squandering it all because of your hate. I truly pity you.

Mattl,

I do not know that you have any intelligence to insult! I do "not" know of a single Iraqi that volunteered to have their country ravaged by a cowboy's army. Stop trying to make excuses for this buffoon! Neither you nor George Bush gives a hoot about Iraqi or any other humanity on the Planet. And you obviously know nothing about war.

Voyager9940,
Excellent comment, it does reenforce my point! Any Member state being occupied by a foreign army would welcome it's liberators. But I do not know of any foreign armies in Iraq before America arrived. Americans are invaders and occupiers of Iraq for nefarious motive! And there will be celebration in Iraq when they are expelled!

Don't insult my intelligence! I read and understood your blog; I just disagree with your opinion. I agree with you that war is terrible; however, my point is that war is sometimes necessary. I wish this wasn't the case. For example, I feel that we should have intervened in Rwanda the genocide saddened and angered me. The reason we did not was because of Somalia, and the fact that the American public was unwilling to stomach the killing of 18 American soldiers. Then President Clinton pulled the U.S. out of Somalia because of public opinion. So we left the country in disarray when we should have stayed and finished the job. Resulting in the U.S.’s unwillingness to sacrifice American lives for the sake of others. Unfortunately, it took us being attacked for us to be willing to do so…This is what I am pointing out that we in the past were too concerned with ourselves to pay attention. That is the crime!!!

America do not be so selfish that you are only concerned about yourselves and your own country, gender, race, possessions; that my friend is a true loss of humanity!

Dear Glenn, I'm only reaction to your 3rd paragraph here. My country has suffered twice under the two World Wars. We alternated bravery with slavery there and the truth is..... without the help of the Americans and the Canadians, supporting our allies (mostly the Britons), we would not have been freed for yet a long time during the second WW. My mother and father were on the first row to welcome the liberaters from overseas, that helped ending a war, that was TRULY, a war! See you soon!

Mattl,

It is obvious that you neither read nor understood the peice I wrote! Why would you come back with a quote that makes my point? "War" is not just a word you make up when it is convenient! It is a lot of humanity in harms way! Trust me! No "war" was declared on Iraq! Ceorge Bush and corporate media have been calling this "land grab" a war! It is a criminal enterprise for Bush Inc.. Stop it!

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

-John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873)

I do hope that the democratic party does not become just a opposition party. By the way we should not be afraid of the unknown.
