All right! glennb quotes Ronald Reagan!
"There you go again!" glenn, I knew there was hope for you! Hopefully a good strong dose of conservative Reagan-style optimism and light will break you out of that cynicism of yours.

Scoop,
You need to support the troops by either telling your son the truth! He is not defending you or any other American. Or, bring them home, but he is probabally safer and better paid in Iraq than he will be here in the "good ole" USA.

WriterofLight,
There you go again! You missed children being part of a lynch mob crowd. Or throwing rocks at people exercising their liberties. Parents teaching their kids to hate based on culture! Fact: American troops are murdering an maiming Iraqi because they have the superior weapons not because they are heros. So stop it! Your "Sheet" is showing! Bring the troops home they are ingaged in a cowards war!

It's coming out now that the letters were written under the guise of "venting" at fictitious soldiers. The teacher led the class to believe they wouldn't be mailed, then he turned around and mailed them to real soldiers after the fact. scoop, you are doubly appreciated, for your own service and your son's.

Well I can honestly say this

I was for the invasion of Afghanistan and I support the efforts for the war on terror, but I was against the invasion of Iraq and I still feel that way.

I will always SUPPORT THE TROOPS.......but NOT the policy these soldiers need to know we are behind them by sending them letters and packages, we DO NOT though have to share our feelings with them

When my son was in Iraq I edited the monthly company paper for the families of the soldiers and my son never knew my feelings until he was back home. I also was part of a local support group.

Yes these school kids have freedom of speech but the teacher should use more common sense, BUT on the other hand I do know this did happen before and the teacher, who I believe, had no idea it happened. Some of the kids wrote nasty grams and then the kids sealed their envelopes and dropped them in a package and the teacher found out months later.
