My husband is a dirty fighter. Straight for the throat. I don't say mean things back, because I like you just can't. It's how he was raised. It's not ok, and he's getting better with the help of therapy. But it doesn't go away even after sorry is said. I read something that said it takes 5 nice things said to make up for one bad thing said. Good post

it sounds like you are making an effort to be nice
and aren't receiving an effort in return.
Relationship go both ways, and if he is like this a lot, you may have to re-analyze where you stand with this guy.
