the other odd thing is
how many Afghani refugees I know that are staying over here and not returning.

You haven't answered Isaiah_in_a_Rage
we are waiting . . .

odd -- Rush is sugarcoating Afghanistan just as the Bush Administration is.

take a few instances and blow them out of proportion to what is really happening --

sweep the problems under the rug

and you come up with a squeaky-clean version of events, like a house cleaned up for visitors, but which is not really all that clean.

don't we need an update
on how Bush has helped this country?
just give us a new post that gives us a list
that's all you need to do
otherwise you're spewing out just a lot of hot air
with nothing at all to it.
why go and say someone sles is all wet when you can't provide proof otherwise?
AND DON'T SAY YOU'VE DONE IT ALREADY
do it again
let us see
so that we can agree (sic)

Thanks Writer!
I see I have some catching up to do. . . .

Rush was in Afghanistan this past week
Great reports from over there about the success of our efforts, the success of the new government and the high morale of the troops. Depending on when the site is updated, you may or may not get more info on http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/today.guest.html.

Thanks Writeroflight --
but your warning came a bit late.    That's OK.  I'll keep quoting Rush.  I have broad shoulders.  Thanks for stopping by!

. . . .citing Rush before this crowd! Thanks for your postings, and keep up the great work!

Isaiah, I'll get back with ya on that request
but it won't be until later today.

I would be interested in your sources
And I mean objective, evidence-based sources -- not rants on either side of the political spectrum, but reasoned analyses.  Belief isn't enough -- you need evidence and reasons.  That's how responsible policymaking occurs (something this administration doesn't understand -- and those who do, like Clark and O'Neill and Powell, end up leaving the administration in aggravation...)

Isaiah,

You are the one who called it "rosy rhetoric," not me. I don't wear rose colored lenses but I am a pragmatic optimist if there's such a thing.  Yes, I agree there need to be more resources in Afghanistan, but from what I've read (obviously some different sources than you), change IS happening.  Not quickly, but there is progress, and I'm thankful for that.

Trust me, I'm not with Bush on everything, and one thing I have struggled with is the whole Iraq war.  Obviously with all the resources focused on Iraq, change will take place more slowly in Afghanistan.  But I do believe it is happening.

"Change doesn't happen overnight"?!
Yes, stupidity puts me in a rage.  It's not that change is expected to "happen overnight."  If you get the facts and ground what you say in reality, you'll find that change is happening in the wrong direction in Afghanistan -- and effort and resources are not being strategically applied to stop that from happening and move the country in the right direction.  This doesn't happen magically -- when you invade a country and put in place a new government, you have to pour a lot of resources into getting that country on track, as we are finding out in Iraq.  As Powell put it succinctly:  "If you break it, you own it."  We broke the country (in the case of Afghanistan, it needed breaking), but we have not put the resources and effort into it that we need to to get it on track (largely because we are pouring so much of our effort into Iraq, which was not a necessary intervention).  And this doesn't happen by waving your hands and saying "Oh, well, change doesn't happen overnight" -- and rosy rhetoric, even if repeated over and over, does not whitewash reality.

Wow Isaiah, you are in a rage!
And I'd be the first to admit that change doesn't happen overnight, but I believe it is happening.  Gee, thanks (I think) for stopping by.

Amazing!

The capacity that you conservative wackos have for distorting reality is truly incredible -- it seems to verge on psychosis, given its separation from reality.  The Taliban has regained a foothold in Afghanistan.  The warlords control the country.  The opium trade is the backbone of their miserable economy.  And Karzai has hardly any power beyond Kabul, and what power he does gain is only gained by doing corrupt deals with the warlords.  Get a grip!  Let's inject some reality here.  (And it's got nothing to do with liberal vs. conservative.  It's about smart vs. stupid, informed vs. ignorant.)

Justsouno, that's awesome! I am so happy for you!!!!!
Woo hoo!  Regarding the book, I've found it at my fav bookstore -- www.half.com -- but haven't coughed up the money yet and actually bought it.  Sounds like a good read!!!  What a relief to be feeling better, eh?  Not to mention answer to prayer.

It is incredible some of the things he is doing now!
I see a quartet of them that are dangerous even to themselves, T. Kennedy, Dean, Kerry, & Gore. It is simply unimaginable for one to do the things they do.  Did you ever find that book? It is so awesome. I am doing so well now!

Quite frankly, Justso,
I think Mr. Kennedy's brain is a wee bit pickled from overconsumption of ETOH.  I have lost all respect for that man.  Thanks for stopping by.  I heartily agree with you!!!!

Jane'sOpinion
Really good post. I agree the media are not showing anything positive. Fox is best and it isn't doing a good enough job. Did you see where peanut brain Kennedy said "How could we not discount the vote in Iraq only 60% voted". Duh 60% of Americans have never voted, at least I don't think so. He also had a dud of a quote about the training of Iraquis. Very good post.
