JanesO, somehow I missed this post back when you wrote it.   But, I sure did enjoy it today.    Reminded me of my sister and I riding the MKT Railroad to Muskogee, OK to visit my Gma in the summers.   Never met Gpa though, he died before I was born.

I often think fondly of my grandparents.  They had a wonderfully positive and profound impact on my life -- both my maternal and paternal grandparents.  I am very thankful to God for them all.

you're right -- CA is still the land of opportunity and dreams for many.  For me, now that my grandparents are both dead, my visits to LA will never be the same.
