Mary x

thanks for your delightful comments.  You have completely charmed me and made my day (er, evening).  I think you will absolutely love the Sounds of Majesty.  I am listening to today's (2/20) program for the 3rd time. Judging from that comment, it would seem I don't have a life but in actuality it completely resonates with me and is so incredibly uplifting.  I know a lot of the songs from having been raised in a Christian home and from multiple church choirs . . . and there's nothing more encouraging than listening or singing along.

Regarding the religion section, I agree.  I jump in and out depending on what my psyche and emotions can handle.  If I'm up for a good debate, I jump in with both feet.  I have tried to tone down the rhetoric, cuz strong words only brew anger amongst many bloggers.  I don't want to do that.  It's God who must ultimately change peoples' hearts.

So thanks, Mary, for stopping by.  I look forward to chatting with you further on blogit, and eventually meeting you in Heaven.

JanesOpinion,

I'll combine my comments on the last 2 postings: 1) thanks for the tip on the Sounds of Majesty. I'll check that out later, because, like you I love gospel.  I love singing it and I love hearing it.  I think there's a good reason why so many of the Psalms were sung.  A friend used to say, "music is how we talk to God."

2)  I love this explanation of Judeochristianity (btw, I am a "born-again" Christian), so yes I'm there on the same page with you. This isn't interesting archaic mythology to me as most intellectuals would like to suggest.  That was hard for me to get past.  I was educated to believe that everyone has a perspective and a truth and all are equally valid.  But now I believe that Jesus was and is the way, the truth, and the life, and living water.

I'll engage and disengage in the Blogit religion debates as I have the energy and motivation.  But it'll probably take more than talk to get through to whomever God has called.  Like they say, "there are no atheists in foxholes."  Be blessed.

Wow AJ, thanks!
I have been doubly blessed, and yes I agree with your minister's definition of jealousy.  It certainly is not how we think of it nowdays, i.e. in a negative way.  I shall have to visit the site you recommend.  Thanks again for stoppin' by!

Defining "Jealous" And Showcasing Your Blog-Entry!

A minister we had several years back explained the term "jealous" so well.

When we think of "jealous," scenes might come to mind of people being envious of each other ("I just HATE the Joneses, because they have two new cars and a travel trailer while all I have is a used car I bought ten years ago!") and/or spouses being overly-possessive to the point of being turned into dangerous stalkers.

But our minister explained that this meant that God was (just as you so wonderfully said) jealous of us in a protective way--a kind of unselfish jealousy that basically says to seek Him and His will out rather than those wrong ways that so often lure us off the best path.

This kind of jealousy makes God go all out to draw us back to Him a.s.a.p.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I've given you a double-showcase!

I showcased you and this meaningful piece in one entry--and, then, created another entry that has a link that takes readers to the original entry.

So here are two chances for a bigger audience--and you and this piece richly deserve the attention!

Not only that, but I'm going to be writing something else in the near future that will lead back here!

One more thing...I hope you'll sign my guestbook (will find a link to it when you click HERE to see what I've written) and be sure to include directions back here, because this is such an important message to get out!!!

Hugs!
AJ

RAME
I would agree with the sadness bit.  Jealous has such negative connotations -- and yet jealousy in its purest form I would think is still God wanting what is absolutely best for his children.  Thanks for visiting!

Thanks, GG
for your visit.  The post was actually written in honor and support of you, since it would seem you have inherited, for now, the coveted position of debating some of Blogit's most renowned atheists and agnostics and other cynics.  God bless and best wishes!

Great post.
I, personally, prefer to think that God is deeply saddened rather than jealous, but the post was wonderful and thought provoking.

Great post!

You pointed out something very important: our faith does not require that we be perfect, but that we try honestly to love without price as God loves us, and own up to our own shortcomings.  Isn't this a good plan for life, even without faith being part of the mix?

Experience -- OK, I'm quite aware of that, and. . . . . .?
your point? I am a Christian, and was discussing a simplified version of the Judeo-Christian understanding of God, as discussed in the Bible.  I am quite aware that there's a very strong difference of opinion everywhere, including our very own little microcosm called Blogit. Thanks for visiting.

God
God is what you believe. Religions have different interpretations of God. The world has their own intrepretaion of God as well.

Justso --
Thanks!  And a very Happy Valentine's Day back to you.  I'm sick at the moment, so can't imagine anything too exciting. . . . Although I must admit I'm enjoying somewhat enjoying having an excuse to get caught up on reading.  Too bad I have to use sickness as an excuse. . . .

You are so right, renigade.
Less rhetoric and more compassion would make a world of difference.

Jane--I think people try to "muddy" up God's message to suit their
own purposes.  I agree with you about simplifying things into "nuggets" of understanding.  Understanding God and his wishes for us does not need to involve alot of religious rhetoric--simple comapassion for mankind usually does the trick.  Looks like you've seen that yourself.  lol

Thanks Renigade, for your comment.
I probably do.  It just helps to simplify that knowledge down to simple nuggets that give new meaning and understanding even to the writer!  Always helps to look at things in a new, fresh way, eh?

Good post Jane.
It's the rules that we try to impose on each other that cause many problems.  The leaders of the various denominations mislead people into believing first in their denomination and then in their relationship with God. If we would follow the do unto others/love your neighbour way of thinking, a lot of pain and misunderstanding would be avoided.

JanesO
Such a well done post. I fully agree with you. I believe it is relationship all the while. I think we had to have the OT to teach us how to actually live normal lives considering what I believe life was then. I believe Jesus was preasent from the begining. I believe God planned a family type relationship with us. I just did a post that is a part of a seriese of teachings I wrote called the "five families of God" the first family I posted today. There is no future in contraversy so the people who do their yelling and screaming on here will have to continue without me. I am tired of it and will pray for them and myself to be more kind and patient. Be blessed. I have missed you. Glad you are back to writing.

JanesOpinion, You are right about Lucy. She needs a friend in the worst
way.  People have different needs, and some go about it in all the wrong ways.
