Writing is a creative release which leads to me being more fun to hang around. When I write my mind is activated and then in conversation-I become more witty and observent. Its excercise for the mind.

Wow, good comparison between the writing and pretending!
I think you're right to a certain extent! Adults are expected to live within the realms of reality and writing can be a great escape!
