what is convincing?

there is no proof that any historical documents are accurate and true. It is really hearsay because none of us were there to bear witness.

What is real and convincing is what you want to be true; what you make the choice to invest your faith in. And all faith is blind.

much history is false

written by the victors

take for instance the history of the "winning of the West" -- or British history of the battles in India and Pakistan.

There, indigenous peoples who are simply defending their land are made out to be villains, killing the innocent settlers or British soldiers.

archaeology and other disciplines have supported much of written history to some extent.  The basic outline is pretty valid.

it is incidents purported to be superhuman and "godlike" in nature that are not supported by history or archaeology.

you find proof for such and they will then be accepted as valid occurences rather than myth.

those who believe in a perfect god

your questions could shatter such a belief.

because god is supposed to be for good -- and not to be creating imperfection

the big question is:  here is all this imperfection -- so why did God create it?

genetic disorders -- mental disorders

they say this is the result of original sin

really?

and yet they have yet to convince doubters that Adam did indeed exist and did indeed commit that "Original Sin".

if their god is real, then your point is good -- they have got to give some pretty good reasoning in support of their point

but how do you know that the accounts of historical events
have not been biased, tampered with or falsified and therfore accurate and not myth?

mythology

is what is not true

or cannot be proven to be true

for which there is no real historical evidence

Humanists or Christians?

Other than Adam

who apparently had free will and choose to disobey, who else is free of (original) sin in order for "sin to be a product of free will" as jackieo stated?  Hard to have a reasonable discussion when one is using mythology as the source for support of the arguement and the other is not.  And if it is sin that causes death, hmmm, are Christians who can have their sins forgiven and absolved not going to die?  Is that the hopeful fantasy that holds some to continue to manufacture their belief, so they can escape death?

As for your post Kooka, very good points.  Shows just how strong the faithful are (not) when it comes to making improvements or extending their life beyond the eminant death (which we ALL will experience).  The hypocracy doesn't stop with fixing a bad heart or giving a new kidney-- it goes deeper than that--like amassing obscene credit and then burying themselves in debt.  Christians are "blessed" with wealth, but what do they do? Serve God and do as Jesus exhorted?  They buy bigger houses, more fancy fashions, wear lots of make up and jewelry, eat lots of food (the number of fat people sitting in churches on Sunday is the same porportion as those who aren't) and have to have that exotic vacation in the Bahama's each year.  But, bring this up and they will say that God blessed them so their lives would be better, more affluent and be a wittness to God's special love and recognition of the prayers "answered" by the faithful.

Just a few thoughts--thanks for the good read

Peace,

FR

Ill try to take a stab at this

the reason for the flaws is sin

which is a product of mans free will, which is a product of Gods soveriegn decision. You cannot connect mans choice to sin to Gods choice to give him free will. There is no conduit from man sin to Gods choice.

There is an arguement that states: God really did not give man free will since man will DIE if He chooses to go another path from God. If God really loves us and gave us free will, why does he not let us go our own way? The truth is: there is no reason other than wickedness ( pride) to stray from God and go another way, because God abundantly met all of mans needs spirit, mind and body ( before man rebelled).

In a sense man is Godlike, since He is in His image.

And since man is not self created he cannot be his own god, He must choose a god. Man is in the image and likeness of the most high God, so any god he chooses other than the true God is a step down. That step down god is insufficient to supply man with the life that he requires to keep his system functioning perfectly. That is why he dies.

That is where all the flaws came from.

Im trying to answer you with reasoning based in scripture.

Kook, it's nearly impossible to gain a straight answer to this.  I've asked it many a time without clear results.

You missed a big one, though.  If there is a reason behind what God does for us, why is it terrible to take a suffering man or woman off of life support?  That's kind of opening a whole 'nother can of worms, but it's also greatly related.

Creation

I read your blog. I believe God created men to be men and women to be women. I believe people get confused because men are sensitive and their fathers said to them Don't act like a sissy. So they think because they have feelings or sensitive that they should of been a woman. But the truth is they were men in the first place. Not a cold hearted Beast. Same as a woman thinks because she a little masculine in nature or likes playing spoerts means she should of been a man. The truth is we as humans have male and female hormones in each and everyone of us. Some have more male hormones and some have more female hormones. Thats Life. But it does not mean we are not a woman or a man. Changing the sex I believe is smacking God in his face. Saying he made a mistake in creating us a certain sex. As far as other surguries no. I believe if you have the money to improve yourself and want to go for it. I hope them the best. But Im not feeling guilty either just because my body shows some wrinles either.

Please visit my blogs and give me your view or comments on mine! thank You

And I will return to yours and also leave my comments for you.

question:

You wrote this:  "If we were born with a bad heart or some mental retardation then that is God's will and there is a greater reason for it all. And we are not supposed to ask the reason just accept that God makes us flawed at times for some reason."

Why do you think it's not ok to ask?
