Damon, unless I misread you, it sounds like your premises are that anything on Fox is automatically wrong and that only the worst possible news about Iraq is to be believed. If so, then your premises are defintely blinkered.
As for mine, thank you so much for proving it right. I assume that you are a liberal, and just like my tag line says, liberals think President Bush is an idiot. And the antics of the Ted Kennedys, Barbara Boxers, Michael Moores and the rest prove where the idiocy is truly found.

...the premise of this blog is fundamentally flawed.
Pointing to stupidity in the Democratic ranks in no way lessens the FACT that Bush IS an idiot! It merely does what the US media does - attempt to distract attention from the uncomfortable realities.

You believe all the stuff on Fox about the elections, huh? May I suggest you do a little more research to find out the real picture in Iraq?
Also, when you say "This is a United States Senator, a man who's supposed to have at least some rudimentary grasp of foreign and domestic affairs" I wonder how many senators this could refer to. It ought to be a matter of great shame and embarassment for America that a mere 12% of US senators hold a passport. How on earth can they be expected to have even a rudimentary grasp on foreign affairs if they never even leave their own country??
