It took me forever to read Insomnia..

I was in the hospital after gall bladder surgury and I would try to read it but the morphine kind of brought it to life and then I would freak out and get all paranoid. I didn't pick it back up until three weeks later, after I stopped taking morphine.

Have you finished Insomnia yet???  Huh? Huh?  ;-)

I just finished the fourth Harry Potter book (I did a review of it in Roofpig's Random Reviews) and now I'm reading Serpent Mage (book 4 in the Deathgate Cycle) by Margaret Weise and Tracy Hickman.

Always reading poetry of some kind or another...right now I'm into this old

book of 19th century British poetry published in 1910.  Cool stuff in there, Rossetti is one whose work I've not seen before cracking this book open, and find him riveting.

Also reading Updike, Licks of Love.  Collection of short stories.

Witchflower ...
I keep hearing both good and bad about, "The Da Vinci Code" so I think I may read it. I also have a whack of unread Nora Roberts novels here in my apartment (a girlfriend sent them to me from Canada, so I would have something to read while in Europe), so I will get to those as well. Thanks for your book related comments and for hanging out in here for awhile.

Currently into Dan Brown,

The Da Vinci Code.  It is so absorbing.  I read comments both from those who couldn't put it down, and those who said it was completely boring and difficult to understand.  Frankly, I wasn't too interested in the subject matter, either.  It is, however, absorbing, gripping and a real page turner.

My copy is from the library, on a limited term, so I'm thinking of buying a copy and first reading Angels and Demons which comes before Da Vinci  and which I already own but haven't read yet.

Before that, I had read the first volume in the "key" trilogy by Nora Roberts.  I interrupted the trilogy sequence to read the library book.

I checked out your profile and it appears that the charges would be international if I borrowed your book. I will have a peek-a-boo online first ...Sighhhh.  Thanks again!

Oh, and you are most welcome for the offer.
I might just reread the book myself, notwithstanding that there are a ton of books that I have never yet read.

The class that I read it in, was my all time favorite college class ever.

The instructor was knowledgable, funny interesting, had great stories, and chose interesting books to read to convey the subject matter.  I still remember his name even.

And no, I never screwed him, though he probably would have been a lot of fun in bed!

Thanks for your kind offer ... I would love to read it ... Since I am in Austria, it may be cheaper for me to purchase it then for you to ship it way out here  ~ depending on where you live of course ... I have a hunch that I will really enjoy the book ...  I will let you know if I am able to order it ...

Dark Dreamer,

It is a good read, which is why I kept it.  I would be happy to lend it to you.

I can mail it to you, so long as you promise to mail it back when you are done with it.

Feel free to send me an email, anytime.

Well, my dream occupation is really not a defense attorney  ... it is a defense attorney on my favorite television show, "Law and Order" .... LOL ... I agree with your comments of course, in regard to most defendants. I work in the medical profession (on psychiatrics at times) and have been a victim and survivor of child abuse etc ... I agree that criminals deserve a fair trial but I don't want to be the one on their side (never). I will look for the book you recommended when I do my next book purchases for sure ...

Right now, I'm caught between some light fiction, a book on psychology, and some art history. Decisions, decisions! Thank you for your very kind notes.

Dark Dreamer,

I read your profile, and your dream occupation of being a criminal attorney.

I think you should read "The Best Defense" by Alan Dershowitz (spelling?).

One of the tenets of Criminal Law is that most defendants are guilty.

Another is that the lawyers know that they are guilty, but everyone is entitled to the best defense possible, so defense lawyers are not keeping criminals on the street and it is not their fault if the prosecution does not do a better job than they do.

My dream occupation would not be helping guilty people not get convicted of their crimes.

I read that book in my first quarter of college, and it was instrumental in my decision to not become a lawyer!
