Insightful Post

Once again you provide a very insightful that thought-provoking post. I enjoyed reading all of it, but the parts that were particularly helpful to me were: that Jesus was not meek or mild but often outrageous; that he didn’t go around calling attention to himself like many of today’s preachers do; your use of the analogy of the mechanic and the repairman; praising Peter for his insight and cursing him for his fear; the way we mock genuine inquiry and anguished doubt, but reward hypocrisy and pride; the fallacy of treating spiritual warfare like a football game; the priority Jesus gave to the life of the spirit over the transitory flesh; and the fact that Jesus didn’t go around condemning sinners, but loving them.

I would only add that he saved his greatest invective for hypocrites, who knew the letter of the law, but the Spirit of the law; and who took great pride in cloaking themselves in religion in order to gain earthly power over others – but I think you really covered those points too.

Once again, great post. Thanks for sharing your insights.
