We really don't know whats at the bottom of the sea? I used squid as bait when I went fishing. Dang, it stunk.

It is pitiful about the giant squids. The smaller ones may have been just floating around at sea decomposing and maybe providing organic matter for other sea creatures. It would take a long time to see the effects of this; if the population has decreased.
