Schree,
Yes, Joey's home. Actually, he is now away at college at the University of Missouri and has gotten into ROTC. Because of that, they won't be able to activate him until he has graduated. He'll be an officer of much higher rank then, too. I'll tell him that once again I know of someone who wants to thank him. He will be pleased and grateful for your thanks.

Thanks, Original.
Joey is doing well but he will never have the innocence he had when he left.  He will never have some of his youthful experiences he should still be experiencing as he had to grow up instantly once he was over there.  I'm sure he is a lot better off than many and he came back in one piece.  We are eternally grateful for that.  Thanks for your sentiment.

Thanks, Jacenta, for your comment.
I appreciate that you like my writing. Too bad I haven't the time lately to be able to write all I want. This is a good thing, you calling your daughter so often. I'm sure the moral support helps her a lot. Is your son-in-law able to use the internet and send and receive emails? Our Joey was able to and we wrote to him at least once a day, sometimes several times in one day. He appreciated that a lot and when he was out on convoys and wasn't able to get online, we still emailed him. When he got back, he had a bunch of emails to read and to respond to. He was always thankful for all the emails. Maybe you and your daughter could do that with him, too, that is if you aren't already doing it. Thanks again for your comment.

Dearest RAME,

I love your writing.  You are honest and sincere. Your writing ranks # 1 with me!

Give your son my love for all he has done for us.I have a son-in-law in Iraq.  My precious, young daughter is now in another state, living on base, trying to make it alone with a 3 year old and newborn.  I have unlimited long distance, thus I talk to her much to confort her.  I am thankful you have your son home.  Love, jacenta

A Beautifully-Written Piece!

Sometimes--or so it seems--war becomes a necessary evil.

However, it would do every President (as well as others in leadership) to be presented with a copy of what you've written here upon their election in hopes that they might be led to never go lightly into war.

Let me make a suggestion that will also help you out personally as a writer:

Make a referral link to this blog.

It seems to me that this is one of those blogs I find here and there around the neighborhood that are sort of one-entry masterpieces instead of being an ongoing blog.

Take this referral link and include it with e-mails to President Bush, US Senators, your state and local representatives, and any others.

Tell them that this will lead them to something special you've written regarding your feelings about this war, your son's place in it, and war and peace in general.

Tell them that this is a read-by-subscription blog but that you can discontinue your subscription if it isn't for you (and that checking out the enclosed link won't automatically subscribe you) but that it enables you to have run of Blogit where you can not only read the works of others and leave comments but can also write some of your own things and have the chance to get feedback on them (not to mention getting paid).

It would be neat to see how many of these big guys we can get over here to pay attention to us!!!

Here's what you do:

1. Go to the bottom of a page here and click on the referral link.

2. When you have arrived, select a blog--in this case, this one!--you'd like to use to introduce others to Blogit and you.

3.  This will cause it to make up htmls for links, buttons, and banners.

4.  Mouse over the html for the link and copy it.

5.  Paste it into mail.

Now, you're all ready to start making a great impression that will, hopefully, give the powers-that-be something to think about when making decisions re: war!

Let me know what happens!

Blessings!
AJ

Yes prayers for your son and all of them...

It is sad that this makes them grow old before their time. For that matter, that war exists at all.... Blessed be to you all....
