I feel ya!
As an African American, I know where you're coming from. You paint a pretty good picture without using poetry. Very interesting read!

This would serve as an excellent footnote to your story. Every language is beautiful when one can paint pictures with it.

Thanks for your contribution to Tandem Story. It will be aligned with the remaining filler parts ( about setting up the scene) before posting.

Re poetry and students
I wonder what would happen if you happened to assign as homework the poetry of Sor Juan Inés de la Cruz and its translations into English to the Mexican girl.

I enjoy painting pictures with words...

and I thought your blog was interesting.  I still feel like I am in the pre-operational stage of poem writting, although I have had poems published many times.  There is so much I don't know yet, about so many things.
