3000 a month yeah
Right now I'm working as a temp when I'm not writing so the opportunity to make that much doing something I have a passion for, like politics, is tantalizing.........

$3000 a month..............I am a shameless ho, so of course I would!
Unfortunately, since I don't do politics and am pretty blunt, I doubt I could land that gig.

Maybe some of those who disappeared blogged their brains out at that time ;-).
I am not sure I was earnest in my question. That doesn't quite fit with my skeptical nature ;-). But I noticed how quiet it got after the election. Thanks for your comment

Hi Beachbelle,
I'm sitting here getting a good chuckle at 1:18 a.m. over your remark about the pre-election bloggers and your question, who were the passionate ones and who were the plants, and your equally earnest, I mean "where are they now?" Of course having written one extremely passionate pre-election post, and then promptly having fallen off the earth, I had to crack up. But you'll be happy to know I was no plant. Got no money. Just a genuine blogger, who wrote passionately from the depths of her heart -- then passed out cold for four months.

Your damn straight I would
In a heart beat! $3,000 for doing something you love is almost like giving the rabbit the carrot rather then dangling it in front of him. I would want it to be about something I was into and politics just doesn't do it for me.

I don't think there was any mention of that. I tend to think in the long-term like you. But I guess if someone was starting out they would risk it and hope for the best

Is a Book Contract and/or Syndicated Column Part of the Deal?
It depends. They would probably have to help me get a shot at being a syndicated columnist once the campaign was over -- or give me access to a first-hand account of the inside workings of the campaign as it progressed, so that I could write a book about it. I'm the kind of person who prefers to learn how to fish rather than to be given one fish to see me through one day.

more than illustrating occasional blogging opportunities, blogging itself is becoming an ever increasingly important promotional tool. Coupled with RSS feeds the traditional means of promoting web exposure is rapidly changing. And to think us old time bloggers were innovators.

I like Howard Dean.
I didn't know I could earn money for writing about why I like him. Nobody would have to pay me to write about how much I hate bush/cheney, but there's too many people who like them on blogit. Makes for a hostile writing forum when people blog politics. Anyway, I'll go back to your fiction post. I've been away lately. Take care Beachbelle

Even if I believed in a cause
I wouldn't blog for money. As my former boss once said, It's not enough to be morally correct, we must appear to be morally correct. If people knew you were being paid to write an opinion blog wouldn't your opinions then lose credibility?

Sure, I loved Howard Dean
and if he wanted to pay me to say what I would have said anyway, that's OK too. I would have worked twice as hard for him. If Bush however wanted me to infiltrate somewhere, and offered me a zillion, bazillion dollars to do it, I wouldn't I couldn't. It would make me sick.
