Good post! The website links were interesting too.
It's very true; there are many public figures that we tend to put in high esteem without knowing the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey would say. And their public image may not always match their real image behind closed doors. Just like your reference to JFK, whom has been shown to be a womanizer in the ranks of Clinton. We're hard pressed these days to find a person that has integrity, politician or otherwise. Tragic really.

You're quite right.  You don't have to have a pristine character to make contributions to this world.  That wasn't my thesis.  What I was trying to get across was that it's a worthy goal to strive for true character -- where what is seen in public matches one's lifestyle in private, where no one is watching.

Interesting. I must admit I don't necessarily think a person has to have a pristine character in order to make a contribution to this world.
