I hear ya, OC
For a wonderful trip back to yesteryear, last weekend I went with my daughter and grandson to Wal-Mart.  My grandson is not a bad child, but he is a very bright, energetic 6-year-old.  It seemed like every second of every minute was spent either answering a question or delivering an admonition.  It was fun, though, especially when I dropped BOTH of them off, and not at my house.  Whew.

I refuse to take my son to the grocery store unless it is an absolute (no diapers) emegency.  He is usually pretty good but he is starting to get to the age where he notices all of the candy and toys next to the checkout counter.  Do these store owners have no soul?  So I wander, child free, and like you feel a tightening in my chest in line, and relief that my baby is not the one getting the dirty looks.

You and me both, Ca88,

My husband would come home off the road on Friday night, and I would hit all the stores by myself.  It was like a little patch of freedom! Never thought I would love grocery shopping!  I loved those days when my girls were little, but they could be stressful. Thanks for reading.

Witchflower this post took me back to the mad, crazy days of shopping with one baby and two toddlers! It was an experience I never want to revisit. Life became easier when I was able to leave the boys with their father and do the shopping alone...
