there are lots of lakes up there! We are about a 12 minute
drive from one! Great fishing, skiing (water or snow), simple country life.

AFter having just stepped outside
to potty the dog, I must say that's VERY tempting!!!!!!!! But there's no water in AZ, and I would miss being near water.

I think you and Justsouno should move up there with us!
It gets just enough snow to remind you of what you miss back east! It's very beautiful 'God's Country' there, it makes it much easier to get back to nature. You could grow your own flax seed!

Janes, when I lived up there before
I used 1/4 acre just for the garden. It worked out great because up there (Norhtern AZ and the boondocks) I used to can a lot, plus I could trade extra vegtables for other items my neighbors had-I actually ended up owning a pig once that I had traded for a busshel of squash. What a gonga.

Ah yes, a garden.
What I wouldn't give right now to dig my fingers into rich earth.  But that earth is frozen solid and covered with all sorts of white stuff.  I am counting my blessings, though.  It's 10 degrees here where I live, but a MINUS 54 in parts of Minnesota!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am the worst about taking care of my health-I'm paying for it now!
It's funny, many people in the health care field make the worst patients. I know the right kinds of foods and what I SHOULD be doing, but I get distracted from that. You're right, it is hard. And then what really burns me is that if you try to get foods that are healthier, they are always the ones that seem to cost the most at the store! Danged if you do, danged if you don't. That's one of the main reasons I miss having a garden and raising all my own meat--can't wait till we move to be able to do that again. Anyway, before I babble on anymore, have a great day!

Thanks for commenting and visiting, Taps and PastorB
I understand the pull between eating healthy and chowing down on donuts and junk.  I struggle with that on a regular basis; however, I've seen too many side effects for my patients with synthetic drugs, and don't want that for myself.  Therefore, I keep eating my flax seeds and following my generally healthy diet, praying that my occasional indiscretion will be neutralized by my diet.  Oy!  Such complex critters we are!

Janes, excellent advice.
It amazes me that so many people would rather just take a pill as a "cure all", then take the necessary steps to change their diet, lifestyle etc. The problem with "modern medicine" is that it treats the symptoms, rather than the cause. This is why there are so many doctors and pharmecuetical companies that are rich. They keep the person strung along by not curing the root cause. Synthetic medications only serve to mask the problem, like putting a bandaid on a broken leg.
God created all things, including the plants, if we just took the time to investigate that fact, we would find that the real cure has already been provided by Him.

Very good recommendations, Janes.   Been using ground flaxseeds for several years now.

Straightforward and Justsouno
Thanks for stopping by!  Straightforward, I'm not a dietician, but I am a nurse (and a newly minted nurse practitioner) and have a strong interest in less traditional ways of treating common but avoidable ills.  Justso,  LOL I like that!  I have some gripes against the FDA myself.  Many!

Are you a dietician by any chance...
... I must say that I am at once drawn to any non-medicine recommendations for good health
